This would be a big step in protecting the individual liberty of the most vulnerable among us.<\/p>&mdash; Jared Rabel (@JradRabel) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JradRabel\/status\/1466153753241862158?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 2, the CT LP retweeted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/PetiteNicoco\/status\/1466498541803773957\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then on December 3, the CT LP directly tweeted, in reference to a tweet about a potential accidental pregnancy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Consent to an action is consent to all the possible sequelae of the action. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yAFAiGP5mh\">https:\/\/t.co\/yAFAiGP5mh<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Libertarian Party of Connecticut (@LPofCT) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LPofCT\/status\/1466783505568911361?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 3, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>These official state party communications clearly convey an anti-choice position.&nbsp; They are in direct conflict with the Libertarian Party National Platform:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.<\/p><cite>Section 1.5, Libertarian National Platform<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This position is emphasized in other national party communications like the article \u201cAbortion is a matter for individual conscience, not public decree\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lp.org\/libertarians-abortion-is-a-matter-for-individual-conscience-not-public-decree\/\">https:\/\/www.lp.org\/libertarians-abortion-is-a-matter-for-individual-conscience-not-public-decree\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I called on Dan Reale, the Chairman of the Connecticut Libertarian Party, to retract the tweets and post one that makes it clear that the CT LP is aligned with the national platform.\u00a0 After a series of email exchanges, he made the wildly disingenuous claim that these messages from the official Twitter account were not anti-choice and he refused to do anything other than potentially raise the issue at the next state committee meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was the last straw for my wife.\u00a0 She refuses to support any party that does not recognize women\u2019s reproductive rights.\u00a0 She\u2019s absolutely right.\u00a0 If the state LP officials don\u2019t start demonstrating honesty, principles, and leadership, I\u2019ll join her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Connecticut Libertarian Party lost a member today.&nbsp; My wife changed her registration from Libertarian to Independent.&nbsp; I fully support her decision.
